I love your metaphor of cutting out the rot, delighting in the nectar 💛 Thank you for your beautiful reflections and the relevant quotes as well, they were a balm this morning!
Your newsletters are such a gift. Thank you for taking the time to write them. I am an illustrator and a mother of two little ones, a 4 year old and a 2 year old, and I resonate so deeply with your experiences in mothering and a creating. It helps me to feel a little less alone in navigating those two loves of my life. Your words and quotes remind me to relish in all the unseen work of life and art.
Cassie, thanks so much for reading, especially with two little ones at your feet. Our children are about the same ages, and I'm sure you can empathize with so much of what I experience--especially the scarcity of time. I'm so glad my words have been helpful. <3
I wish us Americans didn't depend on our work to give us a sense of self worth. It was very freeing when I lived in London for 5 years and not one person asked me "what I did". I get very caught up in my lists of to dos and judging myself on the progress. Your post made me stop and think about that. I'm still worthy even if I haven't accomplished anything on my list.
I can't even imagine living in a place where no one cares what I do for a living -- and I wonder how much of my own mind would open up -- would breathe, would be at ease, would be more creatively inclined -- if it were a little easier to live and raise children in America.
You are still worthy, always! Thank you for reading and being here. <3
Thank you for this wonderful post. I loved the quotes and I have written what you said about cutting away the rot in my notebook because I want to remember it.

Thanks for reading, Carolyn. We're all so hard on ourselves -- grateful for all you put into this world, too. <3
